An initial base was set up in Huntly, then in 2002 a second base was established in Inverurie.
The service offers an alternative to existing day services for people with learning disabilities. Encouraging economic independence by supporting them to learn and develop skills, enables them to reach their aspirations and become a fuller part of their rural communities.
In 2006, RSS formulated into groups focussing on group activities, rather than the previous structure of one-to-one support.
“The group structure has really stretched individual development, encouraging independence and leadership of their own projects. It has been great to see everyone working together, making new friends and learning new skills. It has been a development for us too!” Anna - RSS project worker
In April of 2007 the Huntly RSS base amalgamated with the Huntly Day Centre to provide one centrally combined service within the community. Details of services available will follow shortly.
