Inspire’s first Community Living Project opened in 1990 as a service for eight people in single person flats. Since then, the service has developed and grown according to the varying needs of the individuals we support. The CLP service now provides support to over 45 people through CLP 1, 2 and 3. The service is provided on a one-to-one basis in a variety of settings including: own tenancies, supported accommodation, extra one-to-one social/daytime support, and for individuals who continue to live with their families.
The combination of person centred approaches and supported living principles has empowered many people to develop meaningful lifestyles. The focus of the service has changed from concentrating mainly on skills teaching, to a greater emphasis on developing social networks, making new friends and providing emotional support.
