Inspire is an advocate of Person Centred Planning (PCP) which aims to articulate the aspirations and dreams of the individual and make them a priority when planning and providing services and support.
PCP is a process of constant review, learning and listening. It focuses on the immediate and the future, taking into account the needs, thoughts, concerns and opinions of the individual, and consulting their family and friends and others within their ‘personal network’.
This person centred approach helps individuals identify their aspirations, and mobilises those concerned to help people pursue their own personal ambitions. As such, Inspire provides a range of flexible services which continually evolve to ensure that the correct care and encouragement is given to those who need it.
However, Personalisation is now playing a key part in the transformation of the social care sector. This pushes the initiative, which was spear-headed by PCP, even further and continues to increase the independence of individuals with learning disabilities and additional support needs.
Personalisation gives the individual control of their own life. It’s about the person choosing what support and services suit their individual needs and what best allows them to live the life that they want on their own terms. With personalisation, each individual will be given their own budget which they will use to buy into the services that they feel would ultimately suit their personal requirements. Individuals, families and carers, health professionals, local councils, voluntary organisations, and communities work together in partnership to empower the individual and improve their quality of life. As a result, Inspire is moving forward with Personalisation as a priority
