Holiday Activity Scheme:

Inspire runs a holiday activity scheme for young people with learning disabilities. Taking place during Easter, Summer and October Holidays, the group caters for youngsters aged from 8 to 18 years.

The scheme makes use of community facilities rather than a segregated base, maximising opportunities for integration and trying new activities in a safe and positive environment.

The holiday activity scheme enables children and young people to access social and leisure activities whilst providing essential respite and work opportunities for carers. The focus is on individuals making informed choices, whilst exploring and experiencing new places and activities.

"My daughter loves going to the holiday scheme and will wait outside for over an hour to be picked up because she is so excited. She enjoys being with the other children and just having fun, learning and playing.

The scheme has helped her greatly and each time she came home she seemed to have more confidence and was so happy. "
