Inspired Soap

At Inspire’s Day Service in Inverurie, the team were tasked with moving away from a traditional model towards a supported work environment with a strong product base and a quality result. Following extensive consultation with the people supported within the service, the decision was made to produce soaps and toiletry products.

Opened in April 2010, with the initial soap range launched during Learning Disability Week in June 2010, the service is now a place where individuals have worthwhile occupations and where everyone is treated with respect and dignity as part of the wider community.

In addition to a range of quality and delicious scented soaps, the team now produce hand creams, bog myrtle (or anti-midge) products, wedding favours and corporate gifts to meet individual specifications.

Each range carries labels designed by members of the team and the results are vibrant and colourful products, made all the more special by the personal note included, which provides the purchaser with some background information about the service and the effect that it has had on the participant’s life.

It is the individuals who are supported at the Service that are at the heart of this project. They chose the product, have been integrally involved in research and development, are proactively marketing the range and are responsible for packaging and distribution. This varied repertoire ensures that they learn useful skills which will continue to be an asset to them out with the service.

Sold locally at shows, fairs, wedding exhibitions and from the base in Inverurie, Inspired Soap products are becoming increasingly popular throughout the North East.
